Description
Philippa invites us on another morning walk through the Boglands.
Boglands is both an imagined place based on the bogs of Midlothian and Donegal, and the wetlands and marshes along the River Lea, and an allegory of all human relationship to place and nature, explored through traditional and experimental music and field recordings.
Today’s mix features a field recording from St Govan’s Head in Pembrokeshire, recorded in a cave just below the tiny chapel wedged into the limestone cliff. The ancient and exceptionally atmospheric site is where legend has it that St. Govan, a 5th or 6th century monk from Wexford was pursued by pirates, a fissure is said to have opened up in the rocks allowing him to slip and closing up behind him again allowing him to take sanctuary.
