Description
Soul Cool Records/ DJEJP - Aint No Justice
Named after the powerfully defiant Temptations song, Ain’t No Justice, this contribution to the @SoulCoolGuestList series meditates on the history of slavery, racism, and inequality in America as filtered through the lens of 70’s funk and soul, from the first slave ships crossing the ocean to the for-profit prison industry. @DJEJP features grand, even radical performances from The O’Jays, Curtis Mayfield, Roberta Flack, Eddie Kendricks, Quincy Jones, and more.
It’s striking how relevant these songs remain today, some fifty years after they were recorded. But the spirit of rebellion and solidarity that undergirds them could not be more resonant for today’s turbulent times.
