Today I present to you a new colorful creation due to its origins
Dancehall is represented by a style of music and a culture in its own right. This dance originally from Jamaica emerged in the 1970s and 1980s. It originated from ragga music, particularly riddim, a style of reggae characterized by a repetitive, festive melody and a fast rhythm.
At first, dance hall was mainly played for free in sound systems, which were mobile sound systems used for parties in working-class areas of Jamaica. Over the years, its use has grown in popularity and dancehall has become a style of music in its own right, which is now listened to and danced across the world.
The dance associated with dancehall is a creation of Jamaican working-class neighborhoods. They were influenced by American dance styles in favor of hip-hop, funk and disco, but also developed their own culture with unique movements, such as gyrations and body percussion.
