My new show for River Dee Radio looks back to 1970 and the (in)famous Isle of Wight Festival held in the August of that year. Well over 600,000 made the trip over to the island which only had a resident population of 100,000. The inevitable disturbances eventually led to it becoming a free festival and future restrictions and a parliamentary act followed which meant that it was the last such event for 32 years.
Listen to 16 genuine live performances from the festival by a stellar line-up that included Joni Mitchell, the Doors, the Who, Free, Jethro Tull, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen and more.
