Interviews and informed portraits of contemporary American musicians with our stateside correspondent Gianluca Tramontana (in temporary and voluntary exile in Marseille). This week: acoustic blues veteran Roy Bookbinder has gone to the great juke joint in the sky. Roy came out of the '60s New York City blues scene and was mentored by '30s blues legends like Pink Anderson and Gary Davis before becoming one of the finest purveyors of acoustic rural blues. Gianluca airs a sit-down he did with Roy 18 years ago, where Roy talks about the legends he learnt from and plays a song just for us. First broadcast 7 November 2007.
