Global Instruments - 27 January 2026 (The Dhol & The Dholki)

Global instruments with Sofia Gaetani Morris is a show that looks at instruments from around the world - each month we choose one instrument to unpack with guest-musicians, academics and enthusiasts, to understand its historical, geographical and cultural importance and its role in different musical traditions around the world. This month's instrument is the two-headed South Asian drum the dhol and its smaller sized sister, the dholki. Joining us live to discuss the instruments is Attia Shiraz, an independent arts curator based in London, whose work is informed by the intersections between visual arts, music and histories of South Asia.
