Global instruments with Sofia Gaetani Morris is a show that looks at instruments from around the world. This month's instrument is the kora, a traditional instrument from the West African countries of Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Mali, closely linked to the Jali or Griot hereditary musicians of the region. Joining us to discuss the instrument and perform live is Kadialy Kouyate, an incredible kora player whose skills are rooted in his ancestral lineage of Kouyate griots.
