Clear Spot - 26 February 2026 (Klasse Ed Atkins Raum 109)

Klasse Ed Atkins Raum 109. Room 109 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf has eight-metre ceilings, bare surfaces and a long, unruly reverberation. Conversations blur, words dissolve. Instead of correcting these "terrible" acoustics, we decided to work with them. A site-specific sound system is installed inside cupboard doors, turning furniture and architecture into resonant bodies. Each contributor composed a piece specifically for this setup — responding to the room's frequencies, its echoes, its tendency to muddy and magnify. In the spirit of experimental sound practices that treat space as an instrument, this work lets the architecture shape what you hear. So as you listen, listen to the room.
