Rebel Up Nightshop #56: KOKOKO!, Damily, Fanna-Fi-Allah, Nouvelle Ambiance and more

brand new Nightshop show #56, broadcasted during December on Radio Campus Bxl and streamed via Groovalizacion Radio. 2 songs of the day; reissued classic Nubian funk songs by Ali Hassan Kuban (southern Egypt) and a nice long qawwali sufi song by young Pakistani-Californian ensemble Fanna-Fi-Allah. We got 3 albums of the month to close the year: the new album ‘Valimbilo’ by Madagascar band Damily, an amazing trancedental ‘Tsapiky’ rock burner straight into the yearly top 10. Also the new EP ‘Liboso’ by Congolese/French group KOKOKO! with their electronic scrap metal compositions for underground dancefloors. An extra album of the month is the special compilation and research project Nouvelle Ambiance by Hugo Mendez, collecting the best African diaspora productions from Paris in the 80’s between soukous, zouk, bikutsi and more.
