Nightshop show #54, as broadcasted during October on Radio Campus Bxl and streamed via Groovalizacion Radio. 2 songs of the day; a traditional mbira piece by Zimbabwean artist Stella Chiweshe from her archive album “Early Singles” (Glitterbeat), followed by Peruvian band Novalima with the titlesong in Andean vibes from their new album “Ch'usay” (Wonderwheel Records). 2 albums of the month: the debut album “Habibi” by Iraqi/Brussels band Babylon Trio, filled with heavy electronic Iraqi/Arabic street rave songs, out on Rebel Up Records. Also the double compilation legacy “Dieu de la Guitare” by grand Congolese rumba composer Docteur Nico on the Planet Ilunga label, with vintage rumba recordings from the 50’s to 70’s in sweet warm vinyl sound. Global style shines on the traditional percussive Afro-Colombian music style Currulao from the pacific coast. Closing the show as always is our monthly cultural Agenda + a Soundclash tune.
