Our 45th radio show, broadcasted in Dec '17 on Radio Campus Bxl and streamed online at Groovalizacion Radio. 2 songs of the day, ritual Beleganjur funeral gamelan music from Bali, Indonesia via Akuphone label and a new song by Hailu Mergia from the forthcoming album on Awesome Tapes from Africa. Our 2 Albums of the Month take us to Uganda and South Africa. Starting with an EP by Nihiloxica, a percussion group of 9 people who merge traditional Bugandan drumming style with experimental electronics on Nyege Nyege Tapes label. Followed by the album 'Ukuvuka' by Formation Boys, a young crew of 6 producers from Durban with their dark Gqom sound on the Gqom Oh! Label, released in support of the crew for their recently stolen studio material. Label focus is on American vintage label Canary Records, run by Ian Nagoski with old shellac 78rpm records from Eastern Europe and beyond from the early 1900's.
