Our albums of the month first take us to Africa, with Malian blues by Samba Touré (Glitterbeat), Guiné Bissau 70’s activist & poet José Carlos Schwarz (Hot Mule), Jupiter & Okwess and their Kinshasa power (Everloving) and more Congolese tradi power via Kasai Allstars (Crammed). Skipping over to Colombia with albums by pacific marimba group Semblanzas del Rio Guapi (Llorona Records) and roots-dub-cumbia band Frente Cumbiero (Vampisoul) and Belgian dubroots & funk by Kolonel Djafaar (Batov). Electronic albums follow by Khalab & M’Berra Ensemble recorded in a refugee camp in Mauritania (Real World), experimental moulid electrochaabi by YUNIS (Kafr El Dawar) and Iberian electronic downtempo compilation Codex Futura vol. 2 (Samain).
