Description
Today we're chatting about a current exhibition at City Gallery of Wellington, 'Messengers'. The exhibition brings together archival photographs from the National Library and Alexander Turnbull Collections, and contemporary works to examine the relationship between humans and animals.
It explores animals as metaphors and signs, but also asks us to consider our stewardship and interconnectedness with other species; to reflect on the ways animals enter our lives and imaginations.
The exhibition was curated by Megan Dunn, an art critic, essayist, author and a curator at The City Gallery. She has written two non-fiction Tinderbox and her memoir in essays Things I Learned at Art School. She has published columns, reviews, personal essays and features for a wide range of media including the Guardian Australia, The New Zealand Listener, Metro, Newsroom and Art News New Zealand.
