Unspooling is built from an archive of independently produced electronic / sound-art demos from c.1980 - 2000. These were submitted by musicians across the world as applications to artist development programmes. The tapes are one-offs, with little known about their origins.
Alex Noble takes the best of his discoveries from the tapes as jumping off points – playing original tracks, introducing others that compliment and develop on them, interspersed with conversation exploring what’s been found out about the tapes and musicians.
