Semin Hong works with fabric to investigate the home by reconstructing old apartments and recalling early memories of her family moving through these spaces. Her portative works address migration, having moved between Pennsylvania, South Korea and North Carolina throughout her childhood. We discuss how the stacking of her drapes, ‘skins of the home’, creates a sense of belongingness, and how her grandmother’s superstitions are a stabilising force.
