Today’s show is a tribute to Our Heroes who lost their lives for the greater good. This selection has been chosen to express sadness in their sacrifice as well as gratitude. Sorrow expressed musically, can provide a moving and enriching experience which consoles us. The show starts with the slow, solemn beat of the March by Purcell which sets the tone of tragedy with heavy drum strokes to express deep sorrow. The show encourages self-reflection and perhaps the opportunity to ask ourselves that difficult question - whether we have lived our lives in a way that appreciates their sacrifice of peace. And for that, we need Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Puccini and a few others to guide us through such deep waters. This tribute ends with a prayer for our fallen soldiers, in the hope that they are in the arms of the angels. However, I leave you with the drinking song, Intanto Amici by Mascagni which encourages us to turn our thoughts to happiness. And so, my sincere hope for you, is to, ‘BE HAPPY’.
