Join Maggie Ibiam for Into the Looking Glass. Music from Africa, the diaspora and beyond from the 1970s to the present day, plus an excerpt of a webinar at South London Gallery from their Convergence series featuring a critical discussion on public monuments and Black Lives Matter.
Convergence is an ongoing series of critical conversations, screenings and written commissions, facilitated by the South London Gallery and co-curated and hosted by invited guests.
On Thursday 16 July, art historian Dr Edwin Coomasaru chaired an online panel discussion with artist Yinka Shonibare CBE, art historian Dr Elizabeth Robles and Southwark Councillor Johnson Situ, where the relationships between public space, British history and Black Lives Matter were explored.
The full recording of this discussion will be available with captioning on the South London Gallery's website.
