This month's show is a tribute to the stripped-down simplicity, intimacy, and emotional expressiveness of the piano when played without the use of effects. Instead of returning to Classical favourites, we wanted to play out some of the more unexpected pioneers of the improvisation work, or have worked, in hybrid genres. Amongst some of the songs are recent obscure finds which have been crying out for some reissue treatment. The first half of the show is purely instrumental, while the second half celebrates the interplay between keys and the human voice. We hope you enjoy, Alternate Steps x
