Continuing the Celtic theme of their Welsh-language show last month, Olly turns the revival of Breton folk music in the 1970s and pioneering stringed instruments like the harp, lute, dulcimer, and hurdy-gurdy by the likes of Alan Stivell, Valentin Clastrier and Emmanuelle Parrenin. The discovery, collection, and fusing of celtic traditions with contemporary recording technologies led to some of the atmospheric folk subgenres of the 1970's and the re-articulation of Breton culture conversant with political and musical revolutions of the time. This show will join the dots, highlighting historical and sonic connections between the folk traditions of Britain and northern France
