As fans we tend to forget that who we look up to are humans as well, J-Dilla on the other hand might have been more. As we would all learn after his demise James Yancey was diagnosed with Lupus in 2003, a blood disease and had been struggling with this for the remainder of his life. The amazing part of his last chapter is what he was able to accomplish on his death bed which was the incredible instrumental album “Donuts.” The title to this album was ironic seeing as how the one radio show in the city of Houston, TX. that was keeping Dilla relevant was called “Late Nite Snax.” It was inevitable that this show would dedicate a night entirely to the man complete with interviews from those who knew him and exclusive tracks that had either never been heard at the time or forgotten about.
