"This episode looks at sound warfare and sound resistance. Artist DJ Gurey shares his soundscapes and his work as a sound artist exploring what happens when black people make sound. We explore Djing as sound resistance, we challenge the notions of 'natural sound' and explore how sound reflects socio-economic background. It ends with a mix that incorporates Dj Gurey/Samantar soundscape black noise.
With Guest: Samantar is a neurodivergent sound artist, DJ , poet, facilitator and archivist. Their focus is on documenting sound ecologies of marginalised communities. As a DJ he has performed sets for Voices Radio, Foundation fm, and played for nights like Fast and Bi-furious, Gaia's garden, hackney grow and more. Their work "Can my soundscapes be an ear witness to our black realities" is currently being exhibited at park royal design district."
