This one-hour listening session is an exploration of the Austronesian Expansion, a migration that began over 4,000 years ago from the indigenous tribes of Taiwan, eventually rooting itself in the heart of Borneo. In West Kalimantan, I grew up surrounded by the sonic remnants of this history, sounds that serve as a living map of our journey across the seas. While often under-researched or overshadowed by the royal court traditions of neighboring islands, the music of the Dayak/ Kenyah people contains the raw, "proto-Austronesian" frequencies that have survived for millennia within the rainforest canopy.
