An hour of sounds hailing from the islands of Fiji: Reggae, Sigidrigi, and traditional iTaukei music.
Sigidrigi (from the English ’sing-drink’) is a beloved style of Fijian music characterised by acoustic guitars and ukelele, tight vocal harmonies, and storytelling, often played at social gatherings, family events, and kava sessions across Fiji and beyond. Fijians infuse sigidrigi with Western hymn harmonies, Hawaiian strumming idioms, and country-ballad song craft, yet it remains distinctly Fijian through its' phrasing, language, and style of expression.
