Description
Founded in 1988 by Toronto producers Nick Fiorucci and Andrew Komis, Bigshot operated for just two years — but in that brief window released a run of records that would deeply shape the emerging sound of UK rave and permanently alter the trajectory of dance music.
Dark, moody, and ferociously funky, the Bigshot sound linked Toronto to the nascent scenes of Chicago, Detroit, New York, and the Midwest. Alongside Ron Allen and Len Grant, Fiorucci and Komis fused house, techno, electro, garage, and freestyle into a signature mix of snapping 808s, FM basslines, 303 pressure, dubwise mixing, and blistering vocals. This is the sound of Toronto house.
