Akia Dorsainvil aka (DJ Pressure Point) is a cultural worker and transdisciplinary artist based in Miami Florida. Akia’s work aims to shed light on the beauty, talent, and brilliance of black queer folks. As one of the founders of the black queer collective Masisi, he’s been able to provide programming that specifically highlights the beauty of the diaspora throughout time but with a focus on the Caribbean.
It’s an homage to Miami black electronic music past and present. A mix from my mentor Andre soul who’s no longer with us physically. He was a champion of Afro house/soulful house long before it became popular and plays music with his DJ collective Residence. Another mix is from one of the founders of that same collective named Chilly.
Together with Studio Monkey Shoulder we launched Masisi Radio – an independent online station for the local community of Black, Queer and Trans DJs and artists in Miami.
