Progressive House. For me, Progressive House was born out of the rave scene. Where the scene shifted to a more Jungle sound , and got faster, House music took a turn where the 4/4 beat , euphoric piano, acid 303 merged with a more dub sound and kept the rhythm of House music going. It took all the extreme elements of dance music of the time and stripped it back for a more intelligent, dare i say it, sophisticated sound. The first hour of this mix represents that early Prog sound, and the 2nd hour delves more into the trance sound that developed in the latter part of the 90's.
Record labels helped forge the Progressive sound, such as Guerilla Records, Stress, Limbo, Hooj Choons and Fluid, Whoop! Bellboy, Jackpot, Bedrock, Quad Communications to name a few.
All the tunes in this radio show are new,(bar a couple)and help keep that golden era of Progressive House relevant to new dancefloors and listening ears.
