Description
This show is not about what each religion represents and its differences ( the monotheist traditions ), but rather focused on similarities as for example, the use of various modal scales and examples of settings of Psalms that you can find in many major religions.
The music on today’s program was written by composers from many religious backgrounds and speaks about the same things - devotion, hope, love, sadness and suffering.
Some composers in this edition:
Antonio Caldara(1670-1726), Gerald Cohen(1960- ), Srul Irving Glick(1934-2002), Alan Hovhaness(1911-2000), Vladimir Ivanov(1948- ), Soeur Marie Keyrouz(1963- ), Dariusz Przybylski(1984- ), Valentin Silvestrov(1937- )
Plus music by Hidayat Inayat-Khan, Marc’Antonio Ingegneri, Kassiani, Solomon Rosowsky, Pärt Uusberg, Julius Williams
