PUTTING A NEW GENRE OUT THERE ...
Allegedly, the term WORLD MUSIC to describe almost any pop music not of English provenance was coined at a late night listening session of promoters and journos at the tail end of the 80s, presided over by the late great broadcaster Charlie Gillett. Then came the term WORLD DANCE, unleashed in the 90s by agit punk prophet Aki Nawaz of Nation Records (Talvin Singh, Fundamental, Jah Wobble, Transglobal Underground, Natacha Atlas). And now MADERA decides to humbly follow suit with GLOBAL GLITCH, to describe, well, what's mostly played on the SMS show ... lets see if that one sticks too! First broadcast live on www.soasradio.org on Wednesday 16 October 2013.
