Description
Marty Ryan from Anna's Anchor has just released his third studio album, and it's based on the brilliant concept of a real time walk around Limerick City.
Marty tells Niall about how the idea came to him, how lockdown spent in Limerick as opposed to touring the world and adding to his 300+ shows so far was actually a blessing in disguise and we also get a really interesting brief history on Limerick City, one of the last affordable and most interesting cities in Ireland (despite what some gutter Forbes journalist might write).
We delve deeper in to the penultimate track 'The Oldest Part of Town' from Marty's new album 'A Glorious Ruction' which came out on Out on a Limb records recently, and discuss the importance of DIY and in particular DIYLK, a vital Limerick based arts collective.
This was a fascinating interview and enjoyable whether you are familiar with Marty's work OR Limerick City as he speaks universal truths on life, touring, and approach to songwriting.
