Description
This week, Swimmers speaks with Cathal Coughlan. The former Microdisney and The Fatima Mansions singer has come out with an incredible new solo album 'Song of Co-Aklan' - his fifth after 10 years in the abyss, but he tells me how it has been anything but, how busy he really is, how he approaches songwriting, song-craft, and how he hopes to play this material live.... soon!
Cathal breaks down the track 'Owl in the Parlour' in detail and it's a fascinating insight in to how he writes music before it even reaches the likes of Luke Haines, James Woodrow, Audrey Riley, Nick Allum or Rhodri Marsden to record their parts. He also tells a hilarious timely tour story about touring with Microdisney in the times of the dreaded carnet, in soviet era Poland, which was under martial law at the time. A fascinating listen.
