Description
This week Swimmers Jackson talks with Brigid Mae Power - the Irish folk-singer who is signed to London record label Fire. Her 2020 universally acclaimed album 'Head Above the Water' showcases Power's ability to navigate between two worlds, past and present, traditional and modern. We spoke about the recording of that album, writing when there is nothing to write about, the influence of her son on one of her recent singles 'On a City Night' and the struggle to get the balance between urban and rural life, wordless emoting versus drunken ramblin. Plus dodgy pothead promoters leading to a lost weekend in Newcastle for Brigid. Music comes from from Brigid, an incredible exclusive cover of one of her songs by Ross Hamer & David Tapley, and Ye Vagabonds.
