Description
Ian Rothwell in conversation with Joanne Welch the Campaign Director for the Back to 60 for 50's Women. Joanne explains that women who were to get their pension at 60 have been made to wait until 66 when changes to the state pension were made, It has left all 1950’s women helpless and unsure of where to turn or what to do. The aftermath of this government decision, lead to a small group of women which has grown in number coming together to demand the return of their earned dues. #Backto60 was born which now has 723,500 supporters. Several peer groups representing 50’s women are now coming together to form the ‘ONE VOICE’ movement. www.backto60.com. Ian also tells us about the Manchester Histories Festival which is a series of events taking place from 7th - 11th June celebrating Protest, Democracy and Freedom of Speech. www.manchesterhistories.co.uk 15/5/2018
