Founded in 1957 to enable people to obtain greater enjoyment from the city's museum and heritage collections. The aims of the association have widened over the years, and as well as raising funds so that items can be added to the existing collections, the Friends try to encourage Salford people to have a wider interest in the work of the museum service.
