On tonight's show we dig beneath the surface of Swing & Jazz as it was played in Occupied Europe and within the Germany under the Nazis. Swing Tanzen Verboten was on the wall of every dance hall, the Nazis thought jazz was undesirable and tried to ban it on grounds of purity. The population of Germany and later occupied Europe disagreed and swing flourished, it never enjoyed popularity anywhere like as much once the war ended. The Nazis admitted defeat & even used Swing as a propaganda weapon with darkly comic results
