Let's face it, protest music can be a dull affair -- but not on this show!
Firstly inspired by the recent anniversary of 1978's Rock Against Racism march/gig, which saw hundreds of thousands march to Hackney's Victoria Park in opposition to the rising far right National Front for a gig which featured the likes of the Clash, X-Ray Specs, and Steel Pulse.
My good mate's mum Sharon was at this gig and shares her memories from that day, and we've got music from those aforementioned, as well as Minnie Small's song about Enoch Powell, The Fall screaming HEY FASCIST, Coltrane reacting to the bombings of a black church in Alabama, and Dead Kennedy's telling Nazi punks to f*%k off.
I've also included a recent documentary I made called Battles In A Longer War, which looks at the importance of protest in light of the new Policing and Crime Bill.
Heavy stuff, not gonna lie, but the tunes are so good. Enjoy!
