Nick Smart of Mammal Hands paid Tina a visit in the studio this week. Signed to the ever so cool Gondwana Records, the trio combine contemporary jazz with North Indian influences. They're currently on tour with Mercury-nominated GoGo Penguin, who introduced them to the label.
Tina chats to Nick about their upcoming gigs and new album, which will be recorded later this year. You can catch Mammal Hands at Pizza Express Soho on March 19th as part of the Thump Festival.
There's new music from Vein Trio, as well as tunes from Julia Biel, Ben Cox, Normanton Street and Taylor McFerrin.
Tina will be back on Hoxton Radio from 30th March following a 2 week stint in NYC. She'll be joined by the young saxophonist and composer Phil Meadows. But the jazz won't stop. NYC's own clarinettist Giacomo Smith will be spinning the tunes on 16th and 23rd March.
We're sure that we'll be hearing all sorts of tales from Kansas Smittys' very own jazz man about East London town.
