On this month’s show, @leemoroney has music from as far and wide as Somalia, Sao Paolo and South London! There’s also Turkish psychedelia from Derya Yildrim and Grup Simsek, some neo-soul from Sza, alt-electronica courtesy of Aphex Twin and Autechre, and a thunderbolt of garage punk from Toronto’s METZ. Hanoi’s Tiny Giant are featured in this month’s Local Spotlight, with their ethereal slow-burner of a track, Air and there’s a fascinating blend of ancient Japanese instrumentation and funk rhythm from OKI. We’ll have cuts from Jakarta Record’s compilation Sawtuha (which roughly translates as Her Voice), that’s packed with tunes from incredible women from the Arab world and produced by hip-hop producer Oddisee and The Knife’s Olof Dreijer, as well as a funk-soul number from Moga-disco, an album that compiles tunes from the thriving music in Mogadisco in the 70s. There’s also classic tracks from David Bowie, PJ Harvey and Sister Sledge and Muddy Waters.
