Description
Funky Corners 231 is done by the numbers. 1994 and 1995, that is. The first hour of the show is all hip hop released during those illustrious years. As usual, the second hour features some “dig the sample” action, then things wind down with a touch of jazz-cheese and instrumental beats.
The Crate Highlight is back on the jazz tip, bringing seven songs that sampled “Devika” by Lonnie Liston Smith, including Digable Planets, Grand Daddy I.U., Crucial Conflict, and Radical Stuff.
Selections include: Big Daddy Kane, Big L, Channel Live, Circle of Power, Hank Crawford, Evil Twins, Flatlinerz, Galax, Gee Rock & Da CND Coalition, Group Home, Giò Lama, Hands, Holografik, Lords of the Underground, Craig Mack, Mic Geronimo, The Notorious B.I.G., Pell, Special Ed, Young-Holt Unlimited, and Common Sense.
