Description
The first hour of Funky Corners 186 is “underground newish-type rap music,” culminating with a mini-Upstate set. We do manage to fit the funk back, and blend something real sweet later in the program.
The Godfather is back for another Crate Highlight. We drop “Never Can Say Goodbye” by James Brown, along with seven cuts in which it was sampled.
Selections include: Dorthy Ashby, David Banner, Blockhead, Boogie K, Braille, Destruments, DJ Krush, Evidence, Freddie Foxxx, Funkadelic, Hodgy Beats, Heltah Skeltah, Monk Higgins, Clutchy Hopkins, I Self Devine, Illa J, Joey Bada$$, Juniper Blaze, Kwamizzle, Lee Fields & The Expressions, The Lost Generation, Madlib, Main Source, Massive Attack, Mic Lanny, Moses Rockwell, Rotten Sircus, Waldeck, West Coast Revival, and The Arkyve.
