Description
It’s the 4th of July, and there isn’t a whole lot of rap-related music to show for it. However, we keep things festive with lively hip hop from the late 80s/early 90s. We include a few choice cuts in honor of the late Bobby Womack, as well as more gangster soul from his generation.
The Crate Highlight has been passed down through the Funky Corners archives, but has never been displayed officially. On this program, we bring you “Skain’s Domain” by Wynton Marsalis, followed by the music that sampled it.
Selections include: 3rd Bass, Beastie Boys, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, Doug E. Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew, The Fatback Band, Fu-Schnickens, Donny Hathaway, KMD, Kool Blues, Living Legends, Maestro Fresh Wes, Curtis Mayfield, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Shock G, Son of Bazerk, and Boyz II Men.
