I’m not a French reggae specialist at all, but over the years some recordings emerged as ageing great in the collection, here is a selection of reggae sang in French or Creole from the French West Indies 1978 - 2015
Starting in Jamaica late 70’s-early 80’s: pioneers like Serge Gainsbourg, Bernard Lavilliers & Aimé Monpierre
Then a couple of early 80’s pop scene with Michel Fugain, Doudou, followed by a UK roots inspired from Ganja
Next section mostly mid 80’s from Martinique: 6ème Continent, Savane, Jackson Suriam in discomix glory & a deep one from the obscure Zoamet Côme S
2nd hour early 90’s French ragga selection featuring the likes of Pablo Master, Ras Kodjo Asher, Ras Dany Culture, Tonton David for a mini tribute, King Daddy Yod, the one and only Patrick Bruel (!), Mc Solaar. Next one is a LP-only track with one of the sickest French fast style
Late 90’s with a couple of Mc Janik, then early 2k with Daddy Mory, Yaniss Odua & a final unreleased from Ranking Saïden, in wax!
