Matthew Halsall & The Gondwana Orchestra just dropped a 12" with 2 cover versions of tracks by Alice Coltrane...I kick it off with "Blue Nile", followed by an amazing song from Spiritual Jazz Vol. 5 : Tete Mbambisa with "Trane Ride". 3rd track is by Pedro Iturralde, "Adios Granada" with the young Paco De Lucia on guitar. Fortuna Records reissued a holy grail by the The Jazz Workshop from Israel, the track is called "Sha Shtil Harabbi Ba". We stay in the East with Gabor Szabo's "Mizrab" from Jazz Raga on Impulse! Another holy grail was reissued last year by Bellaphon...Joki Freund Sextet with "Yogiana" and I close it off with another cover version by Matthew Hallsall, it's The Cinematic Orchestra's "Ode To The Big Sea".
