Nathan Daems is a Belgian multi-instrumentalist who plays saxophone, flute, ney, washint and kaval. He started his career as a band member of, among others, Antwerp Gipsy-Ska Orchestra, Orchester International du Vetex, Bazaar d’Orient, Mafiasko Taxi, Va Fan Fahre and Maguaré. In 2010 he won the Young Jazz Talent competition of the Gent Jazz festival with the Nathan Daems Quintet. In 2010 the band released the album Praten Dialect. Daems then delved further into the mix of Eastern music and jazz, and subsequently founded two bands, Ragini Trio and Black Flower. In 2013 the debut album 'Ragini' from the Ragini Trio was released. The band makes jazz based on Indian music. The trio consists of Daems on saxophone, Italian Marco Bardoscia on double bass and Lander Gyselinck on drums.
