Hello and welcome to OUR POETRY: The Music of Being Human, #48 Birthday (Mine, in fact.)
It was my birthday last Saturday and a very good time was had by all, me especially. It involved a trip down memory lane which I have shared on this show. Other poets are Mike Dowling, Michael Allsopp, Fay Franklin, Ron Ogilvie, Helen Matthews, Simon Armitage (yes that Simon Armitage, read for us by David Tombesi-Walton), Sarah Hehir and Gary Studley.
Memories from 50 and 51 years ago are dominating my life at the moment. By sheer chance, my daughter, Milli, now in Edinburgh completing a PhD, is moving into a flat I personally inhabited from November 1973 to about July 1974. What are the chances of that? My University Band played at Bridge Country Club - now the site of the excellent Pig Restaurant, where we dined on said birthday - in July or August 1968. blimey. My life is going full circle and I'm quite enjoying it.
Hope you enjoy the show, albeit a very self-indulgent one!
Love
Phil xxx
