God has loved man before the foundations of the world. Jesus was with God from the very beginning , and he was God's beloved. God created man to have beings to show and express his great love to. Since the beginning of time man was created to be connected to God in a loving relationship with him. We were once separated from him, but out his love for us, by his grace he brought us back into that loving relationship by sacrificing Jesus, his only begotten Son. We are now reconnected to our loving father. We are connected to love, and this mix is symbolic of GOD's love for us, and our love for him.
