Guided by the history of the area I explore and artifacts discovered along the way, I create sonic narratives to reimagine the soundscape of my journey. For Cosmos, my journey was through a work of fiction of the same name by the writer Witold Gombrowicz.
In the novel, I discovered sonic descriptions that did not necessarily advance the plot but set the mood. I used these descriptive residues as a guide for selecting the sounds from my collection of recordings that would be used together to evoke pivotal passages in the book. Tracks were then fabricated creating a path to a novel sound reality.
Sounds were collected in Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri.
