Since Tony Iommi first filled the soundscape with slow creeping doom, there has been a fight to "out-sabbath" Black Sabbath, and quite a few have at least come close. The art behind "heaviness" has been extensively learned and built upon. The illusion of the 80s that "speed" had anything to do with it has been since been dispersed and given birth to a plethora of sub-genres. Prepare yourself to be submerged in a swamp of sonic mud.
