It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. We have little stability whether it be financial, political or environmental. As a generation we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. Anxiety is a tool of neoliberalism that prevents us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that affect us. In a world where nothing is secure, the only constant we can rely on is change. Every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux, the law of impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal. It is only through accepting this change that we can find security. Each month we invite an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create a mix to offer relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can imagine alternate modes of existence that reject capitalist, patriarchal systems of oppression. This month we have invited Ichinen to reflect on this.
