This edition of The Weirding Module focusses once again on children's voices in a variety of genres including experimental compostions by children as well as soul, reggae, punk andhip hop. Following on from last episode "Acquisition" where I examined the stages of children learning to speak, here we listen to the gimmicky, naive and charming songs of young singers from a cross section of cultures and eras, hits and obscurities alike.
Even when written by kids like Nancy Dupree or Venus (of Unit 3 and Venus) children's voices evoke feelings of nostalgia and notions of innocence in adults and with the recurring themes of underrage romance, kids growing up too fast ...
