For as long as there have been films, female composers have been drastically
underrepresented in film music. According to a 2018 study by the University of
Southern California, for the top 100 fictional films at the box office every
year from 2007 to 2017, only 16 female composer were hired, compared with more
than 1,200 men. Pattern Z host Ringo will take a closer at the situation with
his special guest, music journalist, DJ and radio host Franzi Minnewunder. They
will introduce some of their favourite female (film) composers and their music.
